Case in point from the article: "In explaining what constituted "Australian values", Mr Turnbull said migrants must demonstrate support for religious freedom and gender equality."

But would they deport a born-and-bred Australian who doesn't support religious freedom or gender equality (or partakes in domestic abuse?). I highly doubt it.
