The Dangerous Safety of College
The ugly protest at Middlebury is a wake-up call. We’re failing today’s students.
Hasnain says:
"“You are creating a kind of liberalism that the minute it crosses the street into the real world is not just useless, but obnoxious and dangerous,” he added. “I want you to be offended every single day on this campus. I want you to be deeply aggrieved and offended and upset, and then to learn how to speak back. Because that is what we need from you.”"

Cloning mozilla-central with git-cinnabar requires a lot of memory. Actually too much memory to fit in a 32-bits address space.

Stop Beating Black Children
By hitting our kids, we are serving the goals and carrying on the legacy of white supremacy.
Hasnain says:
"We need to stop teaching children that obedience is their greatest virtue. Especially as we brace for the possibility of more systemic racial devastation, we need young people who push boundaries and become the kinds of adults who will not let themselves be victimized."

Italian Band Soviet Soviet Denied Entry To The U.S., Jailed And Then Deported
The Italian post-punk group, which had tried to enter the U.S. to play at member station KEXP and then at SXSW, says it was sent back to Italy by authorities after spending the night in jail.
Hasnain says:
While this sucks for the band, as far as I know they do need a proper visa for this (B1 doesn't cut it either).
Honestly disappointed with NPR for this poorly researched article, especially the quote below:
" It was traveling under ESTA (also known as the Visa Waiver Program), which allows citizens of nearly 40 countries to travel to the United States without having to obtain a visa.
Such visas are frequently used by bands coming to the United States when they only are slated to play unpaid showcases, as paid work while traveling on an ESTA is prohibited."
The ESTA is explicitly not a visa, you also state so (so you know that fact), and then you go ahead and call it a visa? Sigh.

Ohio police crack down on imported stimulant used by teens to get high
REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio— Police in Ohio are cracking down on an illegally imported organic stimulant. WBNS-TV reports that Reynoldsburg police were alerted after several students were caught chewing betel nut at the Reynoldsburg High School Summit Campus. Police say the students were visibly off balance.
Hasnain says:
Who gets high on Tulsi and supari? This is ridiculous.
I can understand going after it because the cancer will kill you, but it makes no sense to go after it because it'll make you "high"

What the CIA WikiLeaks Dump Tells Us: Encryption Works
If the tech industry is drawing one lesson from the latest WikiLeaks disclosures, it's that data-scrambling encryption works, and the industry should use more of it.
